Dr Seuss Purse

Hey folks,

Sorry it’s been a little quiet lately. Still at home on stress leave from work and have been sleeping a lot and reading. Have managed to chew my way through ANOTHER good book by Jodi Picoult called Keeping Faith, Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins which was excellent and into my second epic Game of Thrones novel A Clash of the Kings by George R.R. Martin. On top of that I’m beavering away at my last 3 open university essays, which is hard to keep focused with a good book on the go. Needless to say it hasn’t left much time for crafting.

I have started work on my little man’s Dr Seuss quilt with the excellent Cat in the Hat but low and behold Monday my sewing machine starting to play up again. I’ve got so fed up with taking it to the shop to be told there’s nothing wrong with it that I went onto Gumtree (classifieds) and found a brand new Toyota RS2000 machine for £40 as a back up until I can get mine properly fixed. Bargain! As long as it can sew without jamming up every minute then I’m a happy.

Before my Brother jammed I managed to complete a little purse out of some of the spare Dr Seuss Fabric. I was very naughty and guesses sizes without using a ruler, lesson learned! Here you can see I cut and sewed tabs for the zip.

I definitely need more practice around sewing in zips need to look for some good tutorials or if anyone has any tips?

This is the finished item.

It looks lovely and neat inside but 2 disasters. One I managed to push the scissors right through the outer layer as you can see on the left hand side, need to use something less damaging next time.

Secondly, my tabs haven’t showed up again. Does anyone have any tips or ideas with these?
